ReCellular

Old Phones for Charity is a program run by ReCellular, Inc,, the world's largest recycler of used cellular phones and accessories. ReCellular partnered with the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association's (CTIA) Wireless Foundation on the original Donate a Phone charitable recycling program, and has since developed long-standing relationships with key industry players such as Verizon Wireless, Motorola, Sprint and Best Buy. Over the last 20 years, ReCellular's programs have generated approximately $50 million for its charitable partners.

Charitable contributions are one part of ReCellular's "Triple Bottom Line" commitment to a more sustainable planet. For reference, the Triple Bottom Line concept recognizes that corporations need to deliver social and environmental benefits, along with economic benefits, to its stakeholders and communities.

From an environmental perspective, ReCellular's comprehensive commitment to environmental protection has won numerous national and local awards. All phones and accessories that cannot be reused are recycled, and the company recycles thousands of tons of electronic scrap every year. By keeping phones in service, the company also reduces the equivalent of 60 thousand tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

Economically, ReCellular employees over 400 people, and its global re-distribution of low cost phones has made it possible for millions of economically disadvantaged people to improve their quality of life through cell phone ownership and use.

With millions of dollars donated to charities, tens of millions of phones recycled or reused, hundreds of thousands of tons of greenhouse gas emissions eliminated, and grateful customers in more than 40 countries, ReCellular has developed a global network dedicated to finding the most responsible solutions for the handset industry.
